Sued for defamation? Let the truth prevail

Aiyoh! Now you blog also you can get sued! Jeff Ooi and Rocky Bru just were. By editors of a newspaper no less. This seems to be a bit of a twist of events. Usually its the newspaper thats being sued for defamation! I guess the newspaper felt like sitting on the other side of the desk for a change.

With this, blogging just got more dangerous - but danger is attractive. So there will still be people treading the thin line between fact and libel and maybe even more now that blogging is brought to the limelight.

Does this mean food bloggers shouldn't write bad reviews of restaurants or eating places they frequent for fear of being sued by the establishment? Does this mean I shouldn't tell people I don't like a certain skincare or cosmetic item because I thought it was bad or risk being sued by the companies? Does this mean book bloggers shouldn't write bad reviews about books for fear of being sued by the writer?

Repercussions abound.

I've nothing more to say to this, simply that if there is truth and fact to an article, the truth will prevail.
