THe year of the Ox is but a couple of days away - Happy New Year to all celebrating.
For me the Chinese New Year is all about family, food and fun. The 3 Fs. Its the time family meets up again from all over and stuff ourselves silly with food. I might or might not visit friends this year. I don't really stay in touch with old friends from school any longer. Once I get back to work, its going to be company dinner or lunches after another - boy! The Chinese sure know how to celebrate eh? :D And after the customary feasting period during this time, I might have to check out the top diet pills to lose some weight before an impending holiday!! LOL... I won't take pills la... probably just have to eat less than before or I'd never fit into anything again!
Wishing you a happy new year of the Ox!

Happy Chinese New Year!
Barcode scanning for boutiques
In an expanding business, a barcode scanner seems to be more necessity than luxury. It helps you keep track of what you have and what you have sold. Also makes it easier for stock audit I reckon. I was thinking about this after visiting a couple of clothes boutiques to look for stuff for the coming CHinese New Year. Some little boutiques get by with a little receipt book and manual tagging of items. Others have bar codes and a scanner system for faster easier tracking. I don't know how much one system costs but I think its more professional to use the latter system and it does inspire confidence too.

Here's a thought for a wedding
If you are planning a wedding reception, here's an idea. Use pillar candles to light up the entry into the reception hall or wedding banquet. Sure, its been done before, but believe me, its pretty especially if you get someone to turn the lights down low before you make your grand entrance.
I've seen this done in various ways - candles in a holder, candles high on a stand, candles in the midst of flowers... the possibilities are endless. However, do make sure that your candles are placed in a bowl or have a glass covering. I attended a wedding dinner once where one of the flower pillars caught fire. No kidding! It was just next to me and scary. FOrtunately, someone had the presence of mind to pour water over the budding flame - lucky it wasn't wine eh? LOL
